It's always so exciting when a new litter is born. Every day brings something new and we feel so fortunate to watch these puppies grow. I love taking pictures of the pups and especially enjoy humorous moments like this. Pretty sure this little girl is NOT enjoying being at the bottom of the dog pile!

Next week we will be adding a new girl to our program. She is coming to us from Gemstone Labradoodles in BC, Canada. We've decided to name her Gemstone's Tropical Storm and we'll call her Storm. She is chocolate in color and will be Standard in size. She is our first Standard female, something we've been waiting for for a long time. We are more than excited and can't wait for her to get here so we can start training and bonding. Of course there will be lots of kissing and snuggling and spoiling too!
Here is a picture of Storm that was taken a few weeks ago. How could you not LOVE this face? Doodles! Umm, I mean Toodles! Brenda The puppies are 10 weeks old now and have been leaving for their new homes. It's so hard to say good bye to their sweet faces, but I am thrilled to know that they are going to loving, caring homes where they will be amazing little fur babies for their new families. So far puppies have gone to Rhode Island, California and Oregon. Another one leaves this week for a home here in Florida but will be moving to North Carolina in a couple months. My favorite girl will be leaving soon for her new home in California and it is sure to be a teary farewell. We have 5 beautiful females left and though I'll miss them dearly, I'm hoping they'll find their families soon so they can start bonding.
It will be quiet around here for a while, but in just over a month, Karma will be blessing us with her first litter. She and Magoo will have beautiful apricot and cream babies. Stay tuned for updates! Have a terrific Tuesday! Brenda I can't believe it's been six weeks already, but it has! Breeze had six puppies who are six weeks old now and Tulip had five puppies who are just days shy of six weeks old. What an amazing adventure it has been! Moms and puppies are all doing great and I seem to be hanging in there also.
The puppies have grown so much and changed dramatically in appearance and personality. It's incredible to watch them grow and develop and to appreciate the most wonderful of all things...nature. It's inspiring to watch Breeze, a first time mother, as she seems to know precisely what to do and when. I am in wonder of her and Tuli both and love them so dearly for the wonderful care they have given their babies. Days are hectic here....lots and lots and lots of cleaning and laundry! But the payoff is well worth it. I so enjoy playing with the puppies and watching them as they discover the world. One of my most favorite jobs with them is that of photographer. I could permanently attach that camera to my eye and take endless photographs of these beautiful babies! Lucky, lucky me! Brenda Puppies are finally here! Actually, the time went pretty quick. Breeze delivered 6 puppies in just two hours time yesterday morning. She was amazing! It's her very first litter, but she seemed like a pro. There are 2 boys and 6 girls in all, ranging in weight from 6 1/2 ounces to 9 1/2 ounces.
Mom and pups are doing great and the puppies have already each gained an ounce in just one day. Of course all they do is nurse and sleep so it's pretty easy to put on the weight. I can't wait until their eyes open and more importantly, I'm so looking forward to the puppy breath...the best scent in the world! Make sure to visit the puppy information page for pictures and more information! Today we took Tuli for her X-ray to see how many puppies she is expecting and the magic number is five. We anticipated a little more since her last litter was seven, but we're just thrilled that she is healthy, eating like crazy, and has five puppies ready to be born. We're expecting these little miracles on or about April 21st.
Breeze is ready to deliver any day now. We took her temperature a couple hours ago and she has dropped to 98.7. We'll take it again in a few hours just to make sure it wasn't a fluke, but we've been in puppy mode ever since that first reading of under 99 degrees. We have Breeze's whelping box ready, furnished with some comfy bedding and we've shaved her belly in preparation for whelping. We blocked the perimeter of our bed underneath because that's one of her favorite places to lay and we want to make sure she doesn't decide to go under the bed to whelp her babies. That would make it pretty difficult to assist if she needs our help. We feel truly blessed to be experiencing our first litter so early into our endeavor and can't wait to share stories and pictures with you. If you're interested in one of these little miracles...please check out the Puppy information page and click on Puppy Application. Wishing you fluffy and furry days! Brenda Today we took Breeze to our vet to have an x-ray to get an accurate count on how many puppies she is carrying. They took Breeze back and shot two different views and then we met with Dr. Murphy to view the x-rays. It was amazing to see all those little bones in our Breeze. We counted 6 altogether! She has really grown over the past week and seems to eat every chance she gets. We expect her to deliver in just over a week, somewhere around April 15th. Can't wait to see those beautiful puppies and are praying that Breeze has a trouble-free whelping!
Next week, we'll be taking Tuli for x-rays. We're very excited to see how many puppies she's expecting. She had seven in her last litter and we think she'll probably have around the same this time as well. I'll post again as soon as we know! Wishing beautiful days for you, Brenda We had an early morning visit with our vet and she was able to confirm that both Breeze and Tuli are pregnant! She felt 3 puppies in each girl, but we're pretty certain they both carry more than that. We'll wait until closer to their due date and then do x-rays to get an accurate count. This is such an exciting time for us! Both girls are really starting to eat a lot and they're doing great! Please check back for updates.
Hoping your days are warm and fuzzy! Brenda Breeze has come into heat and we are so very excited! This will be our first litter of puppies. It seems as though we've been working toward this for a long time, but in all reality it's been just a year. We'll be taking her next week for progesterone testing so that we'll know the very best days to breed her. Once we know the days, we'll be heading to the middle of the state to meet with Teddy from Tortoise Island Labradoodles and the two will have their first romantic date. How fitting that this should be very close to Valentine's Day!
These next few months will be tremendously busy and exciting for us! I'll be sure to keep updating the blog as we go along For about five months out of the year here in Florida, it is painfully hot and humid. It makes it hard to take your dogs for a good long walk. I just love days like today! It's sunny and 75 and I just returned from a long adventure with four of the doodles. It's just a short walk to a nice park with trails and once we hit the trails, off come the leashes and the stampede begins. It does my heart good to see them so happy as they run, sniff and explore through the wooded area. Tuli was in the lead the entire time while the rest followed. They are so smart and obedient...if they got too far ahead, I'd call them and they'd all come trotting back. What a great day! The result?
